Michael Oher Profile
The Baltimore Ravens have agreed to terms on a five-year deal with
first-round pick OT Michael Oher, the team announced Wednesday.
“We knew Michael wanted to be here,” stated head coach John Harbaugh. “He
said that many times. (General manager& executive vice president) Ozzie (Newsome)
wanted him to be here, and his agent (Jimmy Sexton) wanted him to be here
too. The agent wanted to make sure he did the right thing by Michael, and we
wanted that. A big congratulations to Pat (Moriarty, vice
president of football operations) and Ozzie for working hard to get this done. I
think we might be the first team to have all of our draft choices signed.”
Oher was a four-year starter who began his is career at guard, then moved to
left tackle as s sophomore. Ended his career with the 3rd-best active
consecutive starting streak (47 games) among SEC players as well as earning
consensus All-American first-team honors, unanimous All-SEC first-team choice
(as a senior) when he won the SEC’s Jacobs Blocking Trophy, given to the
conference’s top offensive lineman.
The former University of Mississippi offensive lineman is expected to start at
right tackle for the Ravens this season.
Also on Wednesday, the team removed DT Lamar Divens and TE Davon Drew
from the PUP list. Also, OT Lou Saucedo passed through waivers and
was placed on IR.
