DE Jeremy Jarmon: Redskins Sign Jarmon by Adam Caplan of ScoutNFLNetwork.com, July 28, 2009 at 2:12pm ET
Jeremy Jarmon Profile
The Washington Redskins have signed DE Jeremy Jarmon, who was selected
by the team in the third round of the NFL Supplemental Draft on July 16.
According to a league source, Jarmon signed a four-year, $2.39 million deal that
includes a signing bonus worth just over $639,000.
The 6-foot-3, 277-pound Jarmon was the only player selected in this year’s
Supplemental Draft and the first Supplemental Draft pick in Redskins history.
Jarmon started 31-of-39 career games at the University of Kentucky, finishing
third in school history with 17.5 career sacks. Following his sophomore season
in 2007, Jarmon earned All-Southeastern Conference second-team honors from the
league’s coaches and was a first-team selection by Rivals.com.
While playing in 13 games that season, Jarmon registered a team-high nine sacks,
which was the fourth-highest total in the nation. He also finished fourth on the
Wildcats with 62 tackles, including 13.5 stops for loss, and was awarded a share
of the team’s most outstanding defensive player award.
A pro personnel scouting source with an NFC team told Scout.com recently
that while Jarmon is an interesting prospect, he doesn't look to have good
passing rush skills on tape. Rather, he's more of a well-rounded player with
good upside.
