Fernando Bryant Profile

CB Fernando Bryant has announced his retirement. Bryant, 32, re-signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers in March after appearing in two regular-season games last year.

Bryant started in 109 of the 112 games he played during his NFL career. He registered 512 tackles (438 solo), 89 defensed passes, seven interceptions, three forced fumbles and nine recovered fumbles. He was named to all of the major NFL all-rookie teams in 1999 when he posted a career-high 78 tackles (64 solo), two interceptions, 13 defensed passes and one forced fumble and one recovered fumble.

Bryant was originally selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the first round (26th overall) of the 1999 NFL Draft. After five seasons in Jacksonville (1999-2003), Bryant signed a free agent deal with Detroit spending four injury-filled seasons with the Lions (2004-07). He signed with the Patriots in March 2008, but was released prior to the start of the regular season. He agreed to terms with the Steelers in November 2008.
