One of the bigger match ups for week eight can be found in Region 1 2A between West Greene and Pittman-Gatlinburg (Tenn.). The Highlanders from Pittman-Gatlinburg (Tenn.) have had an outstanding season in 2008 with a 7-1 record while outscoring their opponents, 274-111. The Highlanders will be led by senior quarterback Taylor Ogle, who has thrown for 750 yards and eight touchdowns. This game will be a big time match up between the top region teams to position themselves for playoff position.
In Middle Tennessee fans will be able to take in an important region match up this Friday when the Mustangs from Nashville-David Lipscomb take on the Bobcats of Giles County (Tenn.). The Mustangs will look to the leadership of senior wide receiver Zach Rogers, 6-1, 170 pounds to help them keep them atop the region. Rogers is having a big season with 250 yards receiving and 425 yards rushing combining for nine total touchdowns.
When the lights come on this Friday night at Chattanooga-Red Bank the Eagles from Evensville-Rhea County will show the fans in southeastern Tennessee why they are one of top teams in class 4A. The Eagles from Evensville-Rhea County are flying high through the 2008 season with a record of 6-1. This Friday night should provide some big time prospects for the Eagles as they travel to Chattanooga-Red Bank to take on the Lions in a big time region rivalry game. The Lions are hoping a big win over the Eagles will vault them into the region lead going toward the playoffs. Watch for offensive linemen Kevin Revis, 6-4, 270 pounds and Josh Walker, 6-5, 297 pounds to control the line of scrimmage.
The Burros of Nashville-Hillsboro have been rolling through the 2008 season with some major wins. This Friday the Burros will take on the Cobras from Nashville-Whites Creek for the top position in the region. Led by senior defensive back/wide receiver Eric Gordon, 5-11, 186 pounds the Burros will look to roll through their region rivals. This game will have a major impact on the playoff picture for the region and could lead to the region title.
