Find out more about the top players in the state and what to expect from each in week one. Check out the latest information on the top players by position and find out who will be a solid pick to start in week one.

Quarterback:

Fans can expect to see some big things this week from Will Gilchrist, 6-2, 190 pound quarterback from Savannah-Hardin County (Tenn.) Gilchrist has great feet and a solid arm that makes him a dual threat anytime he touches the football. Hardin County will take on Westwood this Friday night and should expect to be able to rack up some points. Led by Gilchrist the Tigers will be able to manage several big plays. Gilchrist, a Memphis commitment, is the most solid choice this week for your fantasy football quarterback.

Running Back:

Right now there may not be a better statistical running back in the state than Memphis-Kingsbury (Tenn.) back Gabriel Hunter, 5-11, and 190 pounds. Hunter reeled off 255 yards in his team’s first game last week. Even though he is matching up against a much tougher defense from Memphis (Tenn.) University School fans can expect him to have a big game almost every week. Hunter, an Ole Miss commitment, is on pace to set records all season long.

Wide Receiver:

At this point most fans know that almost any week it is a safe bet to start Memphis-Harding Academy (Tenn.) wide receiver Marlon Brown. For this week we will give you a second option in Nashville-David Lipscomb (Tenn.) wide receiver Zach Rogers. Rogers has great speed, route running abilities, and an offense often dictated by his position on the field. Look for the Lipscomb Mustangs to give their week one opponent, Greenbrier, fits as they are able to throw the ball successfully. Greenbrier surrendered a few yards last week in their season opener against Pope John Paul II.

Team Defense:

There are several defenses across the state that fans will anticipate big plays from, but none more than the Memphis-Whitehaven Tigers. Fans can expect a big time performance from the Tigers including their top players Gene Robinson, 5-10, 180 pound defensive back, Derrick Webb, 6-0, 225 pound linebacker. Coach Saulsberry will also look for big defensive performances from Patrick Christian, 6-4, 215 pounds, and Christopher Blakemore, 6-1, 238 pounds. The Tigers played last week and were able to surrender less than 100 yards and create a handful of turnovers. Coach Saulsberry and his Tigers look to do the same this week against rival Memphis-Fairley.
