Fantasy Football Analysis: Team Defense

PrepTennessee.com fantasy football continues to provide the information you need to put together the best team. Find out more today about the top defenses in the state and who looks to pile on the stats in 2008.

# 5 – Knoxville-Catholic (Tenn.) will play show area teams how to play defense in 2008. The Irish will be lead by three star Daniel Hood, 6-4, 260 pound defensive end along with defensive back Zach Vann, junior defensive back Dorian Cozart, senior defensive linemen Will Coulter, and senior Nick Branum. The Irish will have a solid defense but with a tough schedule may have trouble racking up points because shutouts will be hard to come by against schools like Knoxville-Austin East and Knoxville-Fulton.

# 4 – Paris-Henry County (Tenn.) should have a solid defense this season led by senior Marsalis Teague, 5-11, 175 pound defensive back and Domnique Allen, 6-0, 205 pound defensive linemen. Teague is the type of player that will not only make a great read on a ball to get the interception, but there is a good chance he is going to make you pay for the mistake and find a way to return it for a touchdown. Allen will lead the defensive line with the help of senior Jermaine Fowler, 6-3, 338 pound defensive linemen.

# 3 – Maryville-William Blount (Tenn.) looks to have one of the best defenses in the entire East Tennessee region this season. The Governors will be lead by Cole Lail, 6-1, 220 pound linebacker and Don Cope, 5-11, 170 pound cornerback. Lail is the guy that teams will look to run away from and Cope is the guy you do not throw near. These two combined will help take away a good part of the field in 2008 against many teams. Although they have a solid defense lined up for this season their schedule is going to make it tough to stop everyone every week.

# 2 – Morristown-East (Tenn.) hopes to hang their hat on team defense as strength. The Hurricanes will be led by senior DeMarcus Knight, 6-2, 230 pound linebacker commitment to Ole Miss. Knight hopes to help his team improve on a solid defense and make plays throughout the season. Last season the Hurricane defense would have earned you close to ten points a game throughout the season.

# 1 – Memphis-Whitehaven (Tenn.) looks to have a potentially big season on the defensive side of the ball in 2008 is Memphis-Whitehaven. The Tigers are a solid pick for team defense led by players like Gene Robinson, Derrick Webb, and Patrick Christian. In 2007, Robinson had five interceptions and hopes to lock down the secondary even more this year. Coach Rodney Saulsberry expects big things from his team in 2008 since they have most of the defense returning.
