Will Jackson reported, "I committed to Georgia Tech today." He explained, "When they offered back in March it was definitely a school that stuck out and that I was familiar with. I like Coach Johnson and his staff."
Jackson is ready to make this a banner recruiting class for Coach Johnson and the Yellow Jackets. He commented, "I know that I have my scholarship to college and now I can focus on helping this recruiting class out. I have some guys I'm going to try and get in touch with and get them on board. I'm going to see if I can get them to come to Tech."
He was very excited about the idea of spreading the word of Georgia Tech. He said of helping make the class stronger, "That is definitely something that I'm trying to make sure that this year is a good class because it's Coach Johnson's first class." As far as any Tennessee prospects he said, "Daniel Hood is a guy they are recruiting. I am going to try and get in touch with him"
The spring was a busy season for Jackson as he landed offers from several top prospects including Wake Forest, Ole Miss, Stanford, West Virginia, Vanderbilt, Middle Tennessee, North Carolina State, Marshall, Louisville, and Kentucky.
In the end Jackson had trimmed his list of offers down to three finalists. He reported, "It really came down to Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, and Ole Miss. I had it narrowed down to a top seven but in the last few weeks those were the three schools I really had it narrowed down to. I really liked Wake Forest a lot and I also liked Ole Miss. It just came down to Georgia Tech everything there I liked about it. It's close to home, great coaches, the facilities are awesome, and it's in Atlanta."
The decision is one that will help put Jackson at ease. He explained, "When the summer started it became a little stressful to me. I did not want to talk about with anyone. I've talked to so many people. It's a great process to go through. It's definitely a big relief off my shoulders."
The bar is being set high by Jackson as for his expectations of his new team. He said, "I'm going to go down there and win some ball games. Coach Johnson really thinks we have a chance to win some ACC championships and move towards that national championship. We are going to work towards that."
Often with early commitments fans wonder how solid a prospect may be. No need to worry as Jackson explained, "I am 100% committed to Georgia Tech. I'm not going to taking anymore visits except to Georgia Tech."
