The Cardinals left a big impression on McHaney. He explained, "They are probably the most straight forward staff I've met. It was a very nice campus. The facilities are real nice. The dorms are nice and it's a good town to live in. The indoor turf was real nice and everything around was two or three years old, so it was pretty up to date."
McHaney, who shows a wide range to play either defensive end or tight end, is being looked at by schools to play either. He said of Louisville, "They are recruiting me as a defensive end."
"I've narrowed things down a little bit. I will make my decision in the middle of the season probably." explained McHaney of the schools that are showing him interest. He listed the schools he plans to take an official visit, "I'm going to Oklahoma, South Carolina, and Oregon right now."
His teammate and current commitment Alex Bullard is working hard to convince McHaney that Notre Dame could be an option. He said of the Irish, "I sent my tape a few weeks ago. I think they are showing some interest."
Tennessee is a school that seems to have his attention. He said, "They are showing them a lot of interest and I'm showing a lot of interest back. For several reasons, it's a great program and they have good people in their program. It would be a good school to go to." McHaney added, "I've been there three times, but I would like to get up there again."
Another program that will get a look from McHaney is Vanderbilt. McHaney commented, "I'm considering it really hard. It's a hometown school and an up and coming program."
