Daniel Hood reported of his visit to Virginia Tech, “I liked it. It was really cool. I got to meet with the head coach, Coach Beamer. One of the coolest things, which is sad, we got to see the memorial of the shooting. That was pretty impressive.”
He explained, “I love their stadium personally. It’s a nice pretty big stadium, but it’s not closed in like a bowl. It’s really nice.”
The coaching staff also made a good impression on Hood and his family. He commented, “Coach Wiles, we spent most of the day with him, and he was a really good guy. I liked him a lot. Coach Beamer was a really good man himself. He’s not like some coaches. He could be really cocky about what he has done at Virginia Tech, but he’s not. He is realistic and he’s not about building his name up because he’s more about the university. I was really impressed by him.”
Hood reported, “They are probably one of the best right now. I’ve only visited a few schools, but of the ones I’ve visited they are really good.” As far as narrowing down his list he said, “I was trying to wait to visit all of the schools before I even think about it.”
“I think I’m getting all the offers I’m going to get. I went down to Alabama and competed well, but I don’t think I have what they need.” commented Hood about any future offers.
One school that may be in the mix soon for Hood is Florida. He said, “I think if I compete in Friday Night Lights camp at Florida, because the people coming to this camp are some of the top athletes in the country, I have a possibility of being offered.”
At this point in the recruiting process many prospects with offers want to begin narrowing things down and try to make a decision. There is no rush or timetable for Hood. He explained, “I still want to take all of my official visits. I still want to visit the schools. I’m still relaxed about it.”
