JEFFERSON CITY -- The Dobyns-Bennett Indians and the defending state 4A champion Maryville Red Rebels met halfway on the scenic campus of Carson-Newman College for a football scrimmage Wednesday night. Playing on the new artificial surface at Carson-Newman, Maryville outscored the Indians 20-14.
Playing in a normal game format, Maryville took a 17-0 halftime lead after scoring on a 19 yard TD pass on their first possession and with a 47 yard TD pass their 3rd time on offense. The Red Rebels hit a 38-yard field goal as the first half expired.
