Wood's ready to hit!

TN Prep Sports
Posted May 3, 2006

TN Prep Sports caught up recently with Maryville rising senior defensive end Dwight Wood to see what’s new.

Wood is coming off an impressive showing in the Rebel’s team time trials this week. He posted a 4.68 40 time, just .22 slower than WR/speed merchant and UT commitment Tyler Maples.

TPS: Dwight, you had an impressive 40 time this week. What’s your 40 goal for 2006?

DW: I’d like to get down in the low 4.6’s or high 4.5’s. The goal is to get the best size to speed ration I can.

TPS: How did spring drills go this year?

DW: Overall I think they went well. Of course not having the basketball players hurt us, but we did get many of the younger guys reps. So hopefully that will help us in the long run as we look for people to step up and fill holes in the line. Leadership has already begun to take shape and I don’t think we will have any problems there this year.
