The Waiting Game is Over

The buzz around the Bolivar campus all day was like a soap opera, when and where were the questions of the day. The word finally came down late this afternoon that Bolivar point man Willie Kemp has officially committed to Memphis. Kemp, who is a top 50 player nationally in almost every major recruiting service, is the dynamic leader that all coaches live a lifetime hoping to have lead their squad.
Kemp, who played for the Memphis Pump and Run this summer, chose the hometown Tigers over Tennessee, Arkansas and Kentucky.
Kemp is a pass first leader at the point, who has lock down defensive ability and long arms that have a knack for getting in the passing lanes. His most valuable asset is his desire to win. I have never seen a player who can will his team to victory like Mr.Kemp.
Willie will need to srengthen his body for the rigors of big time college basketball and become a little more comfortable with his outside shot.
The Kemp commitment is huge not only for the fact that Memphis is getting arguably one of the nations top three point guards, but this also puts them in great position to get Mitchell star
Thaddeus Young
.
If you recall the Tigers already recieved a commitment from former Ridgeway star
Pierre Niles
, who has since tranferred to Florida Prep.
If the Tigers score Thaddeus Young they will have pulled off the ultimate recruiting coup, keeping all three Memphis area studs at home.
I think
Willie Kemp
is one of the finest young men I have ever come in contact with. He is nice and respectful and always has that wry smile on his face. I have enjoyed my encounters with Willie and hope to see him lead Bolivar to an unprecedented third straight AA state championship this season.
Good luck to Willie
