Darius Hooten is an offensive line prospect from Nashville (Tenn.) Pearl-Cohn High School. He stands 6-foot-8 and weighs 320-pounds.
“And he wears a size 20 shoe,” said Tony Brunetti, Pearl-Cohn’s coach. “This kid is huge and athletic. He’s a basketball player that just turned to football. His mom wanted him to be a basketball player but then realized football would be his thing. Darius has great feet and quick hands. The scary thing is watching this big kid move. He can really pull. He can play guard or tackle.”
Hooten played left tackle as a junior and right tackle this season.
“The only thing stopping him is he’s not a polished product,” Brunetti said. “He’s basically only had one year in the weight room. He just needs someone to take the chance and work with him.
“Right now he’s the ugly duckling. You work with this kid and support him and he will turn into that big beautiful flower one day. He will flourish.”
Hooten has a 2.5 (core) G.P.A. and 18 ACT.
